MYTH #1: The Insurance Company is on my side and my Adjuster was very kind.
Truth - Most Insurance Adjusters are nice. They are people too. We appreciate their role and responsibilities and make every effort to only intervene in their work when we deem absolutely necessary. Just like all people, they are subject to human error and, unfortunately, the occasional influence of their employer (the Insurance Company). And they are just that, a company. While Insurance Agents and Adjusters may be wonderful people they are hired to protect the company that they work for. A company who loses out on profit and possible interest earned on your annual premiums when you file for and receive claim compensation. Do not allow yourself to be fooled in to thinking that they will "do you right" 100% of the time.
MYTH #2: I have not sustained any damage.
Truth - Most damage cannot be seem by the untrained eye. For more information on this subject, click here.
MYTH #3: My Insurance Company requires (3) estimates.
Truth - This is often an attempt to cut down on internal work on the claim and allow a lesser amount to be paid out. Insurance Company's state that the MAX amount that they will pay is equal to the cost of the repairs. By getting (3) estimates and going with the median amount, you will almost always be paid less and thus receive inferior materials and/or workmanship.
